Day 4, Part 4: Night at Downtown Disney

After dinner, my parents, Lisa, and I decided to go to Downtown Disney. It was getting cold now that the sun was down, so we weren’t there for too long.

We really just wandered through a bunch of different stores.

Denise got something to eat at the Ghirardelli store. I got some personalized pretzels at Goofy’s Kitchen which I recommend trying.

I also stopped in Basin to buy some bath bombs. I got five or six. I love that they sell special Disney themed things there.

Then, we went to Art of Disney. I’m not a huge art person, but I love Disney Art. And Lisa wanted to check it out because there was one artist she knew that had art there. She actually knew a lot of the artists we ended up seeing.

There was definitely a ton of cool art and I wish I had more money so I could buy it all.

I actually found an amazing Figment painting. It was like three hundred dollars. As much as I love Figment I couldn’t justify it so I was kind of sad.

Then, my dad found a print version for forty dollars. And it ended up being by the artist Lisa wanted to see. So, it was meant to be and I bought a print version.

Like I said, it was chilly so we weren’t there very late.

I took a bath with one of my new bath bombs in the Jacuzzi which was nice. Then, it was off to bed for me.

Day 4, Part 3 (Dinner at ‘Ohana)

When we got back to the hotel it was finally getting warmer so we decided to go to the pool. It wasn’t quite warm enough to swim so I was just lounging. My parents spent sometime in the hot tub.

There were no chairs in the sun so I went over to the beach for a few minutes. It was nice and there was no one else there.

After relaxing there we got ready for dinner. It was going to be my first time eating at ‘Ohana. This was more of a restaurant pick for my stepmom and brother. They both like Polynesian style and lived in Hawaii for a few years.

There was some drama surrounding out reservation-caused by us not Disney. But I don’t want to get into that because it’s a little personal.

Overall, it was an enjoyable dinner and I would eat there again. The bread and pork dumplings are very good. You may notice a trend of me loving bread.

The chicken was good, but a little dry. My family said it got better as the meal went on.

The veggies and noodles were also delicious. The veggies were a little peppery.

I was kind of ambivalent about the bread pudding people are always raving about. It had an odd taste like pineapple-I hate pineapple.

I felt like we had a really good seat. We were on the outside edge of the restaurant and were by some windows. During our meal the sun was setting so we had some decent views.

March 2013: Day 4, Part 2 (Back to the Studios)

Denise still wasn’t feeling well so she wanted to keep resting in the hotel. So dad and I were going back to Hollywood Studios. We actually had great luck because a bus pulled up right as we got to the bus stop.

Once we got to the park I took some quick pictures. We checked the wait time for Toy Story. It was at 80 minutes and the Lines app had it at 60 minutes so we decided to skip it for now.

Instead we did Star Tours which was a walk on. This time we ended up in a pod race which was one of the scenes I really wanted to do. I also got a little nauseous this time. I don’t know if it was more intense or because I was a little hungry.

Then, we headed to Animation Courtyard. There was a meet and greet with Ralph and Vanellope from Wreck it Ralph. I love them and the movie so I really wanted to do this. And I don’t typically interact with characters.

It took a little while to find the line, but once we got there it moved very fast. The photopass guy offered to take our pictures so we both could get in them. They also gave us some Wreck it Ralph magnets which I still have on my fridge.

It was a fun meet and greet and I’m glad I was able to do it. Although, I always feel awkward with them.

Since we were in the area we got in line for the Little Mermaid show. While we were waiting for the next show dad checked the wait for Toy Story and it was going down. So, we hopped out of line and headed to Toy Story.

When we got there people were walking out of the line, but we decided to risk it. Someone did come over the PA and said there was a delay because Andy’s friends were over which was a cute way of saying the ride was down.

They didn’t make us get out of line and the wait ended up being about 60 minutes. I was winning most of the ride, but dad ended up beating me somehow.

After, we were hungry, but didn’t want to ruin dinner so we decided to split a hotdog at Min and Bill’s Dockside Diner. Dad also got a milkshake. It tasted very good and is something different. Even dad liked it and there’s mustard on it which he hates.

Once we finished eating we decided to leave and made our way to the hotel.

March 2013: Day 4, Part 1 (Tonga Toast!!!)

I forgot that super-late the previous night Lisa showed up. So, now we have another person on our journey.

I woke up at 7:30 and slowly got ready. We were having breakfast at Captain Cook’s. Brian and Katie were going back to the ESPN Wide World of Sports for more Braves stuff. Denise wasn’t feeling well so she was sleeping in.

So dad, Lisa, and I were going to breakfast at Captain Cook’s. We ended up leaving the room around 9.

We had to make a short detour to concierge so Lisa could ask about getting a cab or renting a car. She had an interview to go to later.

We haven’t spent a lot of time at the Polynesian so it took us awhile to find the restaurant. I’m actually fan of this resort or the Polynesian style.

It was our first time using the touchscreen ordering system. Lisa and I didn’t have any problems, but my dad ended up ordering three things of Tonga Toast. He said he thought it was asking him how much bacon he wanted.

It wasn’t a big deal because he ate one and then took the rest back to the room.

I like it but I wouldn’t pay more for it and probably wouldn’t get it again. A few years earlier I got French toast at the Rainforest CafĂ© and I thought that was better.

After breakfast we split up. Lisa went to get her car and headed to her interview. Dad and I headed back to Bay Lake Towers. We did some laundry and dishes before heading out again.
