Trip Report: Lunch with My Ohana

I got off the train in Fantasyland. It lets out at Storybook Circus. I walked strategically to avoid anything shooting water because I was still wet enough from Pirates.

I got to Be Our Guest a little early, but my cousin, Courtney, was already waiting with her husband and kids. We checked in early and they let us in. That was great because the kids were crashing hard. They weren't having temper tantrums or anything, but the heat was getting to them. It was hard enough for me to deal with.

All of us had preordered so we just had to pay and sit down. This was great especially for the little ones.

I had my usual turkey sandwich with French fries. I also chugged two big cups of lemonade.

We sat in the ballroom so now I've done all three rooms. Hannah, my cousin's daughter, loves Belle so this whole thing was great for her. It is loud, but is spectacularly done. And we were kind of close to the windows so we had a good view of the snow falling.

My other cousin, Amy was in the West Wing with her family. We stopped in to visit and sing her happy birthday. Hannah especially was scared by the room. It is a lot with the thunder and flashing lights.

Then, we parted ways and I was off to the Tomorrowland to meet up with my parents. We met at the TTA which had an unusually long line. It was still only like 10 minutes. #omnimoversforthewin

While waiting in line, we saw some of my cousins waiting in line for the Astro Orbiter. Hayden (he's 4 or 5) was yelling "Hey, Mr. Grumpy Pants" to my dad and dad was yelling it back. He calls my dad that because he's always wearing Grumpy shirts. Hayden does that back home, too. The people around them thought he was hilarious. I wish I had gotten that interaction on film.

Then, we rode the TTA. It's always a fun, relaxing ride. And it's always a must do for us.

Be Our Guest Review

This trip I made my second visit to Be Our Guest. I don't really like french cuisine so I don't have much interest in eating there for dinner. Back in 2013, we had to wait in line for 30-45 minutes to eat lunch.

It was actually the reservation we had the hardest time getting. It does suck having to make reservations for a counter service restaurant but it was worth it. We checked in and walked right on into the Beast's castle. Several people were trying to get in without reservations and were basically being turned away.

The ordering process was very easy and my food arrived fairly quickly. I got the carved turkey sandwich with pomme frites and the Master's cupcake for dessert. I don't normally get dessert at a counter service restaurant, but I needed to try the gray stuff.

Obviously.

My dad got the Croque monsieur with pomme frites and the Master's cupcake. My step-mom got the roast beef sandwich with greens and the eclair a l'orange for dessert. Unfortunately, I didn't ask about their food, but they did say they really liked it.

I loved my sandwich. Why else would I get it again? The turkey is moist and flavorful. The dijonaise and onions add a nice kick. I could use more of both, but I'm a huge fan of raw onion and mustard.

Then, there's dessert.

Denise got the eclaire a l'orange which she enjoyed, but that doesn't matter. What's really important is the grey stuff. Dad and I both got the Master's cupcake which is topped with the gray stuff. This cupcake was fantastic. The actual cake part was fluffy and just chocolatey enough. And the gray stuff was light but flavorful enough. They worked together and separately.

The theming in this restaurant is probably some of the best. It really feels like you stepped into Beauty and the Beast the movie. We've eaten in the West Wing before and it is very well done. I recommend checking it out, but it is kind of dark in there. It makes sense with the theming, but I personally don't like dark restaurants.

This time we ate in the room with the music box. The theming in here is more subtle but equally beautiful. I've never eaten in the ballroom. It's a very awe-inspiring room and I would like to eat there someday, but I'm always afraid it will be super loud.

March 2013 Trip Report: Day 3, Part 2 (Be Our Guest)

There had been some debate about whether we would eat at Be our Guest and when. Some people didn’t want to wait, but I definitely did.

So, we decided to suck it up and get in line around 10:45 and our food was delivered by 11:05  so it wasn’t a bad wait.

I was so happy because we found a table in the West Wing. I felt bad because we sat at a six-top, but I was eating in that room.

I got the turkey sandwich which I loved. It’s probably the best sandwich I’ve ever had and I still think about it. The turkey was very moist and the onions, tomatoes, and Dijon worked very well together.

I don’t remember what they got but here are some pictures.

When we left the line was all the way down to Gaston’s Tavern. Having an early lunch definitely worked in our favor.

We walked through Storybook Circus to check it out. It’s a cute area but not my cup of tea. I’m guessing I’ll like it more when I have kids.

Next, we went to Tomorrowland to do Monsters Inc Laugh Factory. I had never done it before and wouldn’t be (for now). We were in line for about five minutes when an announcement came on that the show was done and we would have to leave.

So, we decided to head back to the hotel. Before going to the room we stopped at the market so dad could buy a Mickey waffle air freshener and a bottle of water to freeze and use on my still injured foot.
